Help Plz

    Ok...sorry to bother ya'll but I need help please. I am fixing my niece's pc. It is a Compaq Presario, 40 gb hd, 480 mb of ram. I re-formatted with Win XP Home. Was doing updates and most all failed. Have installed AVG, tried to install Zone and that failed. Also, when I have the screen up and try to scroll, it is very floaty. When I go to start/my comp/ it is showing Local Disk C and Presario_RP (D). Nothing I have ever seen before. Is it possible I have formatted wrong? Oh and I am doing this at my home not hers. I don't have a router so disconnected mine and plugged hers up. Any suggestions would be completely awesome. Thank you,

    That more then likely is a manufactor partion. It shouldn't be an issue at all.
