I agreed to help overclock a friend's machine. I'm spoiled by asus' bios/cmos.

This is a Gigabyte M1689D with a socket 939 amd xp 64 3000+ winchester. In setup, the highest multiplier that is available to choose is 9. With a FSB of 200, 1800 MHZ.

    Chipset is N. ALI ID1689, S. ALI M1563. Bios is Award F4.

The only control I can find in setup is to increase the fsb, not the best option I know. Still, I eased it up to 230, multiplier still 9 and it's been stable and cool for 2 days.

CPU-Z indicates that the pc3200 400 ddr ram is running at 188.2 MHZ. Before I increased the fsb, it was showing 199.x mhz - ideal. I expected the ram to be at either 200 or 230. The only control on the mobo is "auto" for the memory. I find no manual setting for a ratio or for an actual speed.

I'm attaching some shots of cpu-z, and a copy-paste from Belarc. Belarc would tend to make me think one thing, cpu-z another.

Am I reading something wrong? Are there more controls for this mobo? I find no jumper references in the manual. I don't find this chipset in the cpuid downloads for overclock utilities.

All advice very welcome here. Thanks!
