help regarding Tally 4.5

Hi all..

tally 4.5 is an accounting software and runs in dos

To run it I open the command prompt (by writing cmd in Run from start menu)

and there are two exe files in it.. i.e. TALLY.EXE and TALLYLCK.EXE

and when in dos prompt I write TALLY.EXE (after getting in the directory it is installed)

i get a message (in dos prompt)
Tally Abnormal Completion
Status: 3
Insufficient files provided by DOS
Internal error.


and if i try to execute the other file.. i.e. TALLYLCK.EXE (by writing TALLYLCK.EXE in dos prompt)
it shows the message

NetSentinel™ Protection System version 3.30
Copyright 1989 – 1992 Rainbow Technologies Inc., Irvine CA
ERROR: IPX/SPX not installed

currently I am using Windows XP
I can attach this software .. if you guys want me to (it is a very small software around 580kb)

Kindly help me with this, how can i make this program go?

Just guessing>

Right click the tally.exe/properties/compatability.

Try running it in 95 mode.

 

When i click on compatibility tab, there is an option which says "Run this program in compatibility mode for" if I check this , then the drop down list shows the following options:

Windows 95
Windows 98 / Windows Me
Windows NT 4.0 (Service pack 5)
Windows 2000

"Windows 95" mode.

Then use run to open the cmd prompt.

 

After choosing "Windows 95" mode and running it in command prompt...
by writing tally.exe
it says


'tally' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Do u have TallyLock?

 

You could try a different DOS emulator than the one that comes with Windows XP:

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/

Another solution is to get a new program for Windows to do your accounting.

I have been hunting tally 4.5 & tally 5.4 softwares since long time. Searched almost all the google but found none. Can you pls help with the downloading?..i shall be grateful to you if you could help me out. I just have the tally data saved but dont have the software as i have upgraded my system to XP. Pls help me out.
