    OK - short version:

A friend said he could install Office 2007 for Vista on my laptop. "No problem, its clean" he says. Yeah, not so much.

I just want it off the machine completely. I use the uninstall application in the control panel - no good. Says there is a file missing. How can I get this completely off my machine?

I want it off to the point that I can just go to Fry's, buy the software like I should have the first time around, and install it without issues.

    HELP is greatly appreciated.

Try using a 3rd party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller which is great tool. It will try to launch the app's own uninstaller, and then scans the hard drive and registry for all entries related to the application, lists what it finds, and lets you then remove this stuff. Alternatively, you can simply delete the Office folder from Program Files, then manually remove any remaining Office registry entries, but this is not really a good way to go. Also, take a look at this guide to manually removing Office 2007. Here's some other stuff that should help:

NOTE: I have not used any of the above except for Revo Uninstaller (which may not work with Vista- I haven't tried it with Vista), but from what I saw, it all looked good, otherwise I wouldn't have posted the links.... I hope they help!

I tried to add this to my above post but waited too long....

a little research shows me that many people have used Your Uninstaller with great results, but it isn't freeware. Again, I haven't used it, but maybe they have a free 30 day trial or something.... it's worth a try.

Try downloading the trial and reinstalling it, then that may fix the uninstaller.

    THANK YOU

I installed and ran REvo, but with limited success. I think that Office is such a large app with so many fragments it just didnt find them all. Went through the MS "remove manually" process and got about 95% of the apps out - talk about a long job! After that, ran CleanUp! and CCleaner - I think I got 99% of all the pieces out of the way.

Thank you all for your help - This group rocks!
