Help Request HP Pavilion 522c

Any help / guidance appreciated ...

Have an HP Pavilion 522c which has just had the hard disk replaced after a crash. The computer store installed Windows XP, but apparently not any HP-specific drivers; in particular, the Ethernet adapter and SM Bus devices.

As a result of this, I cannot access the Internet with the computer, although I have a second computer which I'm using to post this, and could (hopefully) download whatever I need to complete the installation.

I have searched totallydrivers, HP, CNET and this site's driver areas without success - this doesn't mean the required stuff isn't there, but at any rate I couldn't find it. Any help / suggestions appreciated, and thanks;

I just visited HP's website and looked up your computer model. There are several downloads listed but none for the ethernet adapter. I typed ethernet adapter into the search bar at the top of the page, and it carried me to a page showing the motherboard, two pictures of it, and a list of the devices and their manufacturer. It did show the manufacturer of your ethernet adapter. You may have to go to their website to find the driver.
I had this same issue with a newer model Pavillion, and wound up doing what I suggested to get the necessary drivers. It is a shame when such a large manufacturer can't list all the necessary drivers for their computers. Hope that this helps!

 

Its an Nforce chipset.

Most HPs use a stripped Asus Nforce board in this case.
