Help required to buy RAM

Good Morning,

well::: i want to buy a new RAM for my friend's computer which has following characteristics :::

Processor Intel Pentium III
733MHz, 240 Mo de RAM

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

How can i know which type of RAM (SDRAM, DDR RAM) i have to buy because there are a lot of types of RAMS in the market and there is also written some times PC100 or something like that ::: what to do please??? I have Evrest Home Edition installed and i dont know how to use this :::: i dont want to open the tower case also ::::: Can any body help me please???

The PC takes 168pin SDRAM and either PC100 or PC133 should work. It's best to try to match the new RAM to the old RAM. There should be a sticker on the memory stick(s) that shows how many MB and the speed (PC100 or PC133) the memory is rated at. A word of warning: this old memory has become VERY expensive in the past year or so, due to the fact that it is more or less obsolete....

 

Thanks for your response:: well::: i dont want to open the computer and see the RAM ::: actually, he has bought a new RAM from internet mentioning that its capacity is 512 MB but when he received the product, it was not 512 but 200 and something or like this ::: thats y it will be useless to see the ticket of that RAM ::: may be we can try Everst to sort out this :::: can you help me in this regard please?
