Help! Restarting Problems

    my desktop has windows 2000 professional installed on it, but something weird keeps happening, it shows " Windows 2k Pro loading " then once its about to boot into the screen it restarts and it keeps doing this! i try to boot into safemode by pressing F8 but it doesnt work, help?
