OS: Windows XP-home edition SP2. In safe mode IE and Firefox are super fast. At normal power-up McAfee privacy service does not work because IE blocks active-X elements. (Message: page-content can’t be shown correctly because the security settings does not allow to use active-X elements). IE and Firefox are very slow, mouse reaction is very slow (seconds) and they hardly work. IE can only find known pages like “Google” e.o. Firefox is slow but can find every page. After change the active-x settings plus script settings in IE (and safe them) , I have to Log-out and Log-in again (without restart computer). After this MCAfee Internet security starts-up correctly (Mcafee privacy service included), IE starts very fast but still can find unknown pages and oft crashes. Firefox works super fast unlimitted. After a while (some minutes) suddenly the active-X elements are blocked again (IE settings are changed again) and the whole circus start again. Also with a cold-start of the computer the IE settings are changed in such a way that active-X elements are blocked and scripts not allowed to run. Virus programs (Mcafee, Klamwin etc), several Spyware programs (Aluria, Spysweeper, Spydoctor etc.) don’t find anything. There are no stranges running processes. What mechanism is changing my IE settings for active-X and scripts ???. Does anyone have an idée ???. Please help.

Don't use Aluria! They are partnered with known malware companies!

    Please run the steps below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow these directions:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

With special thanks to Chaslang; The first option to solve this problem (don't use Aluria) was also the best one. After complete removement of Aluria (against Spyware), restart computer and extra Register cleaning with "Reghealer" (the most uninstall programs only partly remove registry entries), al the problems were gone. Never thought that a program witch I buyed one year ago to prevent from this kind of trouble would cause it. Thus beware of Aluria Software, suddenly it can do strange things with your PC.
    Thanks to everyone.
