Help the children :)

I am looking for some good educational freeware/shareware for my kids. Please make sure it is legal too, I don’t want anything illegal on my network. Really anything fun for my kids would be great. Now that winter is peaking it’s nasty head around the corner, my kids will be cooped up in the house. They enjoy reading and I have given them many “Jump Start” books as well as novels. I have a couple of reader rabbit games and they seem to like them, but I would like to give them a Varity. I have three kids 5, 7, 12. They all have their own pc too, so sharing will not be an issue. I have gone to download.com and they have a couple of fun games, but nothing really on the educational side. (At least, not that I found)

The eldest has XP on an 800mgz (256/133)
the other two are running 98se on a 233. (64/133)

(they may get 450s soon)

They do not have great video cards. (Only dad does.... hahaha)

 

I will try those when get home, I am trying to avoid the online games, I do not provide a gateway for the younger two.

 

Two things... I think we spend almost more time outside in the Winter than summer! (in Michigan in the Cold...) just heavier jackets...and no Bugs!!


But... i picked up several programs at the local computer show for my 3 year old to use...

He Rocks at How many bugs in a Box and Winnie the Pooh...

I think the most I paid was about $7...
I know those titles probably wouldn't work for your kids, but they had many kids programs to choose one...

see if you can find a computer show around...

 

My youngest loves How many bugs, he also has the second one, I think it is more bugs in a box. We don't get many of those shows in Iowa, hopefully there will be one this winter. Any other titles would help too, I can always go out on Ebay and get them fairly cheap. If I know what I am looking for.
