Help to start in Safe Mode - WinXP

Hi,

I have a problem with some Adware (Elitum.EliteBar), and have checked the other forum where the solutions include starting in Safe Mode in Windows XP.

However, I have a problem with doing this.
I press F8 during startup, and I can see that the loading stops. Then I can press the arrows keys + enter, and the loading continues. BUT I cannot see anything during the process.

I have the same problem with opening a CMD.exe-window and making it full-screen --> Totally black screen.

My normal loading of windows (before the adware problem) was also black screen until Windows graphics showed up (choosing user to log on).

I use an LG Flatron 776FM monitor (the only monitor in the house, unfortunately).

Could someone
1) help me to see the Save-mode screen or
2) tell me the key-kombination after F8 to reach "safe mode with networking"
