I just got a SATA HD for my pc. Apparently, I have to find drivers for it before I can install my winXP. I am using the Winfast Foxconn 761GXk8mc-rs MB. I have the nLite software and everything in order to burn the cd. Even tried two now with the recommended drivers, but didn't work. I have been at this for 2 days now and I'm just not finding the SATA drivers for my MB anywhere online. I even went to Foxconn support and couldn't find them. Any help finding these SATA drivers for my MB would be very much appreciated...

    thanks

well, apparently, I found a quick work-around for this problem. All you really have to do to get winxp to read a SATA HD is to go into BIOS and change the SATA MODE to IDE (from RAID) or ATA from some other 4 letters I can't remember now. The point is, I found this solution in another post. I don't know why ppl mess with all that slipstreaming business and trying to get drivers and stuff when this is all you really have to do. I wish I would have found that sometime about 20 hours ago... 'course, it makes absolutely no sense to me why this fix works, but whatever, I'll take it.

    Hi

It works as you are not using the native SATA hardware of the mobo but dropped back to IDE so with IDE being nearly always available on an XP install, it works.

SATA was early days when XP was released so the drivers where needed to be either slipstreamed or on floppy and on the very start of th einstall process F6 is needed to be hit to load the drivers for SATA, then the install goes ok. These days SATA is easily found by Vista and Windows 7 or can be now installed via USB pen or CD/DVD as not everyone these days has a floppy so that route was changed in Vista onwards.

But glad you have it working now.
