Help...What Is This?

Well here I go again??? confusedconfused:confused

Anyone know what "wiset-up custom excu" from Microsoft is and should I install it. I think one of my grandchildren downloaded it and left it on my desktop and I don't know if I need this or not.

I don't want to go and install something that I know nothing about and haven't found anything on line to tell what it is for.

Hi

Not come across a Microsoft file of that name, but have on some screensavers etc, if you right click it and choose Properties in the Details Tab who does it say the Copyright belongs to is? (microsoft sign their files) and in the General Tab what does it say next to Description? also check its Digital Signature for a maker/owner of this file and post the names.

But if in doubt just delete the file off your desktop and then check add remove to see if their is something you dont recognise in their, post their names and we maybe able to assit in working out what they are for you, before you uninstall.

File type is "Application".........14.0.8056.1202

Description...."Window's Live Installer"

copyright.... "Microsoft Corp."

At the bottom this was added..... This file came from another computer and might be blocked to protect this computer.

I had right clicked on it and ran virus scan, it came up clean.

Hope this helps. Just didn't want to install it not knowing what it is suppose to do or if I even need it!!

g'day windows live is a chat program that a lot of people use to communicate with each other. the installer icon should have the windows logo with wlinstaller.exe written beside it.
halo is correct with the description you have given with wiset-up part is for a living waterfall screen-saver,usually this type of software comes bundled with a lot of adware if it doesn't have the windows logo and the description i gave for windows live i would delete it.

Thanks inwunderdownunder, since I don't need a new screen saver and usually make my own from family pictures or nature pictures I take myself, I will just delete this.

It's good to know what it is and how to check things out better from now on in the future.
