When I open and email to type I can't type.
I can't highlight or copy paste from or into the email page of OUTLOOK EXPRESS.
The same thing is happening with text type fields, such as password login fields , in IE browser as well.

    Running WinXP Sp3
    Outlook Express 6.0
    Internet Explorer 7

In Outlook Ex. I can select "View all tabs, and then select the SOURCE tab and type there right into the code, but trying to type in the "edit" tab (where the email is always composed) is exactly like typing to the Preview.
    Nothing happens.

No prob with FireFox or Thunderbird...
    Thanks for help/ advice.

You might want to re-install Internet Explorer (OE is part of it and would get reinstalled too). I'm not sure if uninstalling Internet Explorer will remove your emails with it, so navigate to the following location:

    C:\Documents and Settings\[%username%]\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{%long unique string of numbers and letters%}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Then copy all the .DBX files to a safe location; create a folder in My Documents or on the desktop and name it "Email Backup" or whatever, then copy-n-paste the DBX files in to it. Download a new copy of Internet Explorer 7 from this link first; do not install it yet. Go to Add/Remove Programs; scroll down to 'Windows Internet Explorer 7' and uninstall it as the on screen directions suggest. Doing so will 'roll back' to Internet Explorer 6. The PC will probably restart to finalize the process. Then re-install the downloaded IE7. Alternatively, you could simply try installing Internet Explorer 8 without going through the uninstall of version 7; you can download Internet Explorer 8 from this link. On the other hand, I don't use Outlook Express (actually, I hate it LOL I don't use IE anymore either) so you might want to wait for an Outlook Express guru, but I honestly don't think you can possibly hurt anything by following the steps I suggested.
    Good luck!
