HELP!! wif mmc.exe.

i recently downloaded a spyware killler , "spybot S n D" it got rid of the spywares and adwares, but i can't seem to run my disk- defragmenter. when i try to run it a window will say something like "mmc.exe has generated errors blabla" im running on windows 2000 professional. how can i fix this? please reply. it's very urgent.

 

ummm...ok it's mmc.exe has an generated errors and will be closed by windows You hav to restart this program" i read that thread u linked. but the guy had the error msg when exiting the defragmenter. in my case , i can't even start disk defragmenter

 

Thats a Dr. Watson error giving a crash dump.

Go to start, run and type drwtsn32.exe

Click ok.

Take note of the Crash Dump path.

Get the latest dump files, zip them (gotta keep it under 100kb) and attach them to your post.

I'll run them through a debugger and post what they say

Start with what I said.

Then go to that directory.

Post what the names of the files are in there.

 

This is what mine shows.

Hopefully your log file is smaller because I need that too.

If its bigger let me know, and I will have you email the stuff.

 

wad if they're over 100kb even after zippin em? do u hav msn messenger? then , i could send u the fles or something. files are "user.dmp " and "drwtsn32.log"

It doesn't work in Safe Mode either.


Intesresting thing about DKService.exe, he had previously uninstalled Diskeeper.

Anyone know how to manually remove it?

He is on fat32. I reccomended a chkdsk /r to check for filesystem problems, as I foudn several resolutions for this problem being fixed by chkdsk.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

 

SP4 is installed, by the way.

 

Maybe Diskeeper is still listed (and running) in Services?

Sounds like it wasn't completely uninstalled.


[Edit] It is or the process wouldn't be listed. Try disabling the service.

 

Yeah, you are right. But it doesn't show up in add/remove programs.

So I'm not sure really what to do with it at this point.

 

There's a 'Diskeeper' service that can be disabled.
