I'm looking to get a new computer and was hoping i could get some advice on what type i should get. I'd like something that is good for gaming, but i would still like it to be something thats not very expensive. i know this isnt a very informative post but the fact is i dont really know about all the different choices. should i buy a prebuilt one or should i attempt to build one? any help or advice will be appreciated.

Knowing how much that you are willing to spend would help a bit.:)

Yeah i guess it would help to know my budget. the truth is i really dont know, but i'd like to keep my cost down to somewhere under $1500. i'm not in any rush since i'll have to save money regardless of how much it costs. i'm really just looking for something that will be good for gaming and other things as well and still be good enough to last for awhile. if building it myself will get me more for my money then i'm willing to do it that way even though i've never done it before.

Your options are vast ....go to www.tigerdirect.com and look at prebuilds as well as cases with mobo/cpu ......esp. if you have spare parts available (like cd drives and such ...

Okay as i was saying the tweaks i made were imo cheap and very important.

    Changed the proccessor to a Pentium D 930 3.0ghz 800mghzFSB

I also got the OS with the reinstallation cd. I highly reccomend it, because you never know if you get attacked by malware and ur forced to a clean sweep.

Changed the video card from a Nvidia 7300LE to a Nvidia 6800 pci-express.(big difference and this vid card rocks)

It comes witha single DVD+/-RW drive. I changed this to a dual drive with a DVD+/-RW drive and a 48x CDRW drive. I find this nice to have cause you can burn copies of cd's easier :)

Went from the onboard sound to a Sounblaster Audigy Advanced HQ..onboard sounds bad and isnt of best quality. If your a gamer then this sound card will work perfect, and it doesnt add alot of extra cost.

I changed the speakers to a 100watt 5.1 Surround Sound system. Trust me if your a gamer than 5.1 is the only way to go, it enhances the experience dramatically, i wouldnt have it any other way.

And there you have it. Its just a tad over $1500, coming to a final total of $1515. They will build the computer for you, and ship it to your house. No need to build your own, and all that non-sence. And IMO this is a decent build up for a gaming PC. Heck if i had the money i would buy this, better than what i have lol.

    Hope this helps.
