Hello! I am having trouble installing a program. It is a demo of Puntotek 2, a cross stitch software, and
    1. It is in Spanish, and mine sucks, and
    2. I can't figure out why it won't install.
Is there a way to translate it to figure out the error, or can someone help??

    Thanks!

    Hi

On install do you get any error messages? if so try typing them into http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to get an aprox translation of error and that may help us.

Sadly doesnt seem as if they have an english translation of the software and manual, plus manual has no common error info in it to give ideas on what common install issues you may have.

Does your PC meet the specs of the program in:

CPU Pentium – MMX 200 or higher
    Microsoft Windows 98 / 2000 / XP or higher
    64 MB of RAM.
50 MB of free hard drive space

Thanks! My PC does have all the requirements, I double checked because sometimes I can be a complete computard!

I will try and translate the error message and post what results I get!

    Thanks Again

    This is how it translated...

The installation of Puntotek V2 interrumpio before software settled completely again. It can execute the complete installation of Puntotek V2 later to finish the installation.

I will try a reboot and reinstall and see if that might help.

Well, that didn't work but I got this next message...(translated)

    Babel Fish Translation Help

    In English:
The install program initiated the program to clear the application with the purpose of clearing the temporary archives of installation.

What does that mean?? How do I get past, around, thru this one???:confused

Like I said, sometimes I can be a computard!!!

Would you consider a different program that was in English such as http://www.pcstitch.com/ ? It might be easier for you.

Hello! I have pc stitch. I just have some patterns with the ptk extension, and that seems to be the only program I can open these with. Is there a way to convert them to PC Stitch or a pdf?

I also got this message when I tried to install this morning:

    Babel Fish Translation Help

    In English:
The install program cannot install the archives of the system or actualizer the shared files if they estan in use. Before continuing we recommended to him that it closes any application that this executing itself.

Not sure what that means, I didn't thing I had anything else going....

Thanks so much for all this help!

Do you have an antivirus on? Sometimes programs write things and the av gets upset. (You may not wish to shut down your av to try and install a trial of a program in a language that doesn't offer any English help). I probably would not do this.

Yes, the Av is on.....I guess I wouldn't try to turn it off either. Is there some way to conver the extension to anything...a pdf, jpg, gif.....

Well, I tried the zamzar, I will see if it works. I also downloaded pdf converter pro, but everything gets to 99% done and quits, and I tried Express Server, but that just adds the .ptk.pdf extension and when I open them in Adobe, it is just a big "Express Evaluation" across the page! I am about to just give up, but the Batman patterns are so neat, and my son is a huge Batman fan!! I wish I could find them somewhere else!

Well Zamzar didn't work! The just got the same thing I got, then when I did just a plain ptk extension they didn't support it! Drat! Still working on figuring out the Express server and Pdfconverter Pro. Maybe my own "Personal Geek" can figure something out. I didn't try him first cause I thought he needed a break from all my dh's computard help!!! I am still here if anyone can figure something out, but I will post if I get it worked out! Thanks all:)

pdf converter pro has nothing to do with ptk files so I'd uninstall that.
Express server also works on pdf files and has nothing to do with ptk files so don't install that either.

I don't know if this will help or not. Check this thread at PC Stitch forums: http://www.pcstitch.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=331 in particular the 3rd post. This is a link to the "Pattern Maker Viewer" program they are refiring to. http://www.hobbyware.com/pm_downloads.htm. A comment was made in the thread that there are plenty of free conversion programs to do the job, but I have yet to find one at a site that is safe to download from. Too, if you have already found a solution please let us know.

Well, so far no luck! I even contacted the company that makes the Punottek and copied the message I get, and he said that is wasn't an error, I just had to close all programs that were running and then install it. I did, it didn't! AGGGHH!

I will research more and keep in touch! Thank you all!!

OK! The program is installed! Instead of clicking on the usual "ok" button, on the page that translated to:
"Initiate the installation; for it, it clicks in button that appears down."
"Click in this button in order to install the software of puntotekVe in the directory of specified destiny." "Saliar"

I clicked on the little icon of the computer. It worked....... So now I just have to translate themanual, and the buttons so I can print my Batman.....I am sometime a bit obsessive!!!:cry

    Thanks again
