Help with ATI silencer 3 and a Dell XPS system

My ATI Radeon 9800xt fan died recently. I checked around and decided to buy an ATI silencer 3 rev 2 from Arctic Cooling. I got the thing installed, and it does seem to be cooling my video card like it should.......

However, I ran into another problem. Due to the layout of the video card + silencer, I had to remove the large green plastic case inside of my computer. I believe it is used to direct hot air from the CPU up and towards two fans, which then direct the air out of the computer.

I'm monitoring the temps in my system, and can already see that it is having a pretty big impact on my CPU temperature. It normally runs around 45-50 degrees celsius doing what I'm doing now (just browsing the internet, nothing major), but now it's already at 60-65 degrees celsius (it seems to have stablized).

I'm not sure what to do. The slot that my video card was plugged into was brownish and longer than the other smaller, white slots in my computer. I could be wrong, but I thought about just moving the video card down a slot or two, but it didn't seem like it would match up to the slots.

Can anyone give me any advice on what I can do? I *might* could fit the green plastic back on, but it would be directly pushed against the video card, and I'm not sure if that's wise to have it pushed up against something that will be getting hot.

Will the video card fit on the smaller, white slots instead of the main brownish slot that it was plugged into? I'll have to open the case again and check and see, but I didn't think it would fit.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

    Thank you.

No sadly the card will not fit the white PCI slots as your GFX card is an AGP one ( hence the slot its in the brown one nearest the CPU ).

as to the green plastic air deflector i'd have to see what that looks like to comment on any potential fix I could think of.

    Thanks for replying.

I've been monitoring it for a few days, and the temps seem fine if I put the green plastic back in place, but don't fully attach it into its slots. It doesn't cool the CPU as well as if the case was in the right place, but it seems to keep it cool enough (40ish when not doing much, and around 55ish when running games), and the video card stays cool as well (30-45ish). It seems like the plastic doesn't get warm enough to melt either, even though it's touch part of the heat sink on the video card, so I guess I'll just use it like this until I have the money to buy a replacement video card that will fit in.
