help with Combofix

    is there a way to run combofix at DOS prompt?
    If so how is it done?
    Im workin on an Acer Aspire 5516 laptop with vista home basic. 32-bit

    for some reason Im not able to get to the c:\ drive or directory from the 'system recovery options' command prompt.

    ComboFix will not run from the Command Prompt in System Recovery Options.
    I assume that you unable to boot this laptop? Why do you suspect malware? Not that it couldn't be, just curious.

    could be a virus, it will boot but not into safe mode. after it lists the files it reboots. norton 360, malwarebytes, and super anti-spyware doesnt find anything. but it is doing things, so i just want to be sure. combofix has always been a good program for me

    ComboFix can run in Normal Mode. When you say "it will boot", do you instead mean "the machine powers on but I can't log into Windows."?
