Compaq Armada, Win ME, resolution set to 848 x 480, way to low, browser screens too big.

Would like to change this to a higher resolution. The problem is, when I go to control panel, display, then settings to change the resolution, I am unable to hit either ok or apply. The menu box is too big, even if I eliminate the task bar and dray the menu box up as high as I can, still can't see ok or apply buttons!

How can I change the display settings? :wave:wave

What is the Native Resolution of your monitor? Can it handle higher resolutions?
May need to update drivers for your video.

Don't know, but yes it has definitely been set to higher resolution. 'Puter is 10 years old, and latest, if you can call that, drivers have been put on.

How else to change the display resolutions settings???:confused:confused

Should be able to get 1024x768 from what I found.
What is the number of the Armada?
    E500?
    M300?
    M700?

Getting a window to move, using the keyboard:
    1. The window must be active (you can tell this by looking at the taskbar)
    2. Press alt+ spacebar
    3. press M (you should see a 4 sided arrow, somewhere - don't worry about its location)
    4. Use only the keyboard arrow keys to move the window around.
If the bottom of the window with the buttons need to appear, just keep pressing the up arrow key.
I'm not sure if it will work on this type of box but it does work on moving windows around from 98 through XP. (I don't have Vista nor Win 7 installed so I can't test it on those).

If you can make the resolution selection you want, think then hitting the Alt+A key combination is the same as clicking on the "Apply" button. If you hit the Enter key that is the same as clicking on the "OK" button.

With some applications, if your screen resolution is set too high, the message box does not display entirely, and the command buttons are cut off, as you described. What you have to do is to temporarily reset your screen resolution to low, shut down and reboot. Then, with the lower resolution, you will see the entire message box and you can enter the command(s) you wish. When you're finished, just reset your resolution to high, reboot, and voila!
