I have a message board for one of my telecommuting companies. I have had problems on and off forever. I KNOW that other people can access it because they've told me, I've even called the support guys for the site and they can't do anything. It has the typical dns error when it can't find the site. I also ping the address and it comes back with nothing. I have Windows XP and comcast is my internet provider.

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Anybody have any tips or ideas?

I've tried pinging the domain and ip addy

    C:\Documents and Settings\>ping bulletinboards.com

Pinging bulletinboards.com [209.49.175.245] with 32 bytes of data:

    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.

    Ping statistics for 209.49.175.245:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

    C:\Documents and Settings\>ping 209.49.175.245

Pinging 209.49.175.245 with 32 bytes of data:

    Request timed out.

    Ping statistics for 209.49.175.245:

    that's what I get

try flushing the dns resolver cache..
    at the command prompt, type:

    ipconfig /flushdns

Okay, it said "successfully flushed dns resolver cache. Am I supposed to restart or anything? I didn't restart yet, but tried the site again and it still does not connect and has the same error message. Also, went to command prompt and pinged again and it still says request timed out.

are you running any firewall software that may be blocking this Domain?

nope, and I even restored it to factory default 2 days ago. I had downloaded a bunch of junk and it was messing with my computer. The problem is that this happens frequently...I can access the site some days and some days I can't. I have not been able to access it for 3 days now. Like I said, I talked to the support for the site yesterday and they couldn't figure it out. They suggested I run neotrace and here's the readout from the report:

YIKES! you're not even getting past your first connection.
are you using a router? have you contacted your ISP (not the website support) to see if they can look into why the DNS isn't resolving for this domain?

alright, it must be my router: linksys. We have had problems with it in the past so we just connect through cables to the router from both the desktop and the laptop. I just disconnected from the router and connected my cable to the cable modem and I can access the site.

I'm having the same problem with an HP laptop...both wireless & and ethernet cord, it says I have an internet connection, but IE6, Firefox, and AIM can't get out to the internet at all...it seems to be a recent thing, because its a hot topic in a lot of forums...
