As long as you are up to date on your windows updates, you can ignore the DSO exploits. Avenue A and Hitbax are tracking cookie and not much of a concern. Cookies will not cause any performance problems. I'm not sure what web trends is but I guess it is also a tracking cookie.

Try installing and running Adaware and see what that comes up with.

Also once you get your system clean, may I suggest you try another browser. Firefox is much more secure and not vunerable to the kind of stuff that IE is.

    Hi rsd,

Nigneil's suggestions are all good. I have a few more. I don't know how familiar with Spybot you are, so here goes: :)

Make sure Spybot is up to date. Make sure that IMMUNIZATION is on so that "all known bad products are being blocked."
This should take care of Hitbox, Avenue A et al. If you still have problems, click Spybot's Advanced Mode. Under Settings, open Ignore Products and make sure the offending items are not checked. If so, uncheck them and Immunize. Then, rescan and "Fix" the bad items. Reboot after fixing (the same goes for Ad-aware.)

You can also check to make sure these bad items are set to be blocked on Internet Explorer by clicking Tools - Internet Options - Security - Restricted sites to see the entries that Spybot's Immunization has made. Make sure Hitbox etc... are there.

    Best luck,
    PP

    Hi rsd,

On previous post, I wasn't thinking properly  If Spybot is finding these items, then obviously they are not checked in Ignore Products. MY BAD!
You must have an immunization issue as these items should be blocked. Regarding your search button, you have to tell us what it has been changed to.

Yes!!!! What version of SpyBot are you running and what is the date of your Detection rules for SpyBot. You should be running Vers 1.3 Final and Detection rules from 2004-08-11

By clicking the Update or Search for Updates icons on SpyBot. But first you must be running the proper version. You did not answer. What version do you have?
