Hi, this is my first post, and it's quite a heavy one! :)

In brief: With my partner I have published some software on a forum. Some people on the forum have reported that the software is acting 'suspiciously' - which it certainly is not. The mods on the forum have stated they will allow the software thread and download link to remain on the forum if they can get a 'clean' report from a company such as AVG or Symantec.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or maybe someone could suggest a better/different way of proving my software's innocence?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
You would have to contact one of the major security vendors to do this. We are a malware removal forum, not a major security company. You could try running scans from sites like VirusTotal and JottiScan but they may report possible problems even though they use all major security company scan engines. Any program that reads/writes the file system, the registry, or downloads anything could seem suspicious to a scan. Yes even though any antivirus program does do the same thing on your PC but they all have security certificates and they all know about each other.

You may want to try posting in the Software Forum where other software developers could comment on how they deal with this. In fact, I will move this thread to the Software Forum right now. ;)

    Thank you chaslang.

I have done the virustotal thing and for what it's worth, the scan came up with 0/43, but that is not enough for this specific case, I need a certification or a report or something from a recognised company. I think really I need a human to put the software through its paces rather than anything automated.

Start by posting the link of the VirusTotal result on the site where your software is being hosted.
    Cheers..

Rather than sending the files in a zip to Jotti/Virustotal, could you upload and test them individually please? Save and post each link back here.

I just received an analysis of your exe file, what do you make of it all?

Sorry, I am not a techie, so please bear with me...

Firstly, when you say you have just received an analysis, from whom or where? And what type of analysis?

Secondly, are you asking me what I make of it? Because if you are, in all honesty I have no idea. That is why I came here to ask you good people for help. :)

I suggest re-writing your software using a more direct and controllable language, it will be easier to track what it does. .NET probably triggers more events than you really need.

Thank you for your input, however .NET is a recognised mainstream language. What I am looking for is an analysis of the software that either proves or disproves its security.
