help with firewall please

    Hi, i installed Online Armour Personal firewall as instructed in "How to Protect yourself from malware!@.
    When i installed AVG and then rebooted, AVG poppedup message saying Trojan.Beko found. When i tried to run Online Armour Personal firewall, it wouldn't start. I've deleted this firewall know.
    Any advise/help which firewall should i install?

    COFFEE.EXE Missing - Insert Cup and Press Any Key ??

    Any firewall that is as good/better but i won't have problems with??

    Hi Guys, Thanks for advise.
    I think i'll give PCTool Free Firewall a try.
    When i got the trojan alert from AVG i pressed "Heal".

    While your on i've had a Microsoft auto update come for
    Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806) but it won't install. Can you think why this could be, i've never had an auto update not install before.

    Thanks. Looks like i need to uninstall previous microsoft.net installations and then reinstall.

    Good luck trying to get .NET2 sorted out. I couldn't get SP1 to install since Feb. Followed the MS instructions and nded up being chased in circles on MS's site. I even got an error message with a number and when i tried searching for it, MS told me that there was no information! So why do they give it a number? Why not spare me the agony and just have a general"We don't know what the problem is - good luck"?

    I hear u. Been very lucky this time though. Deleted net.2, went to ms updates and installed soooooo easy. Alls good.

    How old's your xp. Didn't come with sp1?

    This is on a 2K computer, not XP.
    It is SP1 for .NET2 that refused to install since Feb. 2008 not SP1 for XP.

    Got ya, maybe if you've already got a .net2 version already installed you try uninstalling and then let windows auto updater find the version for you to install?

    Was the .Net2 not listed as an essential/otional download or it would't download?

    I think it downloaded but again I ran into the problem of not being able to get SP1 installed so I was looking at every month downloading it several times and getting the "failed to install message".

    Since I don't have any program that needs .NET2, I'm not going to bother installing it again and being told I need SP1 for it which won't install.

    It's sort of like Sun Java. I do not have it installed, therefore I don't have to keep patching it. :)
