I have BearShare and haven't had any problems with it (just clean your system after you first download it and after you do any updates). I am having a problem with firewalls slowing things down and I can't seem to let BearShare be an exception. I've added BearShare as an exception in my Windows Security Center and have turned McAfee off (like it's any good anyhow  ). But I'm STILL firewalled somehow and I can't work it out.

In my network connections I have a 1394 connection "1394 Net Adapter" connected as well as my local area connection "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC". I have a D-Link DI-624. Windows XP. IE 6.

    Need any other info?

I'd appreciate any help. I have a few things I want to share that I put together myself (nothing copywrite infringing at all, all by me) but I cannot share them if I've got a firewall on my system somewhere.

I would have thought it would be your router , you may need to set up port forwarding

Do you have any spyware apps. such as Spybot, that may be blocking because of good reason? :)
