I have a NVIDA GeForce NX8600 GTS Diamond Plus Graphic Card

    Computer is a
    Lenovo 3000 J115 Type 7387
    32 Bit Vista Home Prem.
    AMD Athlon
    64x2 Dual Core
    3800+2.00ghz
    6100 Geforce Graphic Card

I not sure what other specs are needed and where to look for them lol

    My question is:

I disabled old graphic card, turned computer off installed new graphic card, rebooted computer and have a black screen, monitor goes in hibernate mode -and computer will not load up - I cannot start in safe mode because I disabled old card - what else can I do to get new card working or did I buy wrong card - Just want hubby to be able to play his video game which requires a Geforce 6600GT - but his other one requires a 6800 Geforce - I bought the 8600 to be sure both games would work - maybe computer is not made to have card upgraded .....

    Help!!!!

hi Katchy, make sure the card is firmly in the socket, and also check the monitor plug is fully in the card socket, sounds obvious but i had the same problem and this worked for me, if not try re seating the card again,, hope this works :)

Some video cards have a plug that requires them to be plugged into the power supply. If this video card has this, be sure it's plugged in. Also, you may need a more powerful power supply. Stock power supplies are notorious for being under-powered. Most new PCIX video cards require a minimum 350w power supply (and even that's a bit low IMHO). You can reset the CMOS by using the onboard jumper or removing the battery for a couple minutes to revert BIOS settings back to default. Be sure the main power cord from the wall is unplugged from the PC whenever you're in the case moving the video card, checking cables, resetting the CMOS, etc... if you do reset the CMOS, you'll have to configure the date and time, boot order, etc, again.

Hubby is happily playing Airborne now lol lol lol

It WAS plugging in the graphic card into the computer duh me

Then when I tried to install the drivers from installation disc - dum thing told I did not have Vista 32 but I do - so I browsed the CD and found a way to install the drivers - took a while tho - then after all that and restarting computer I went to device manager and made sure the new card was there.

Anyways tyvm - I am so grateful for the help darn card cost me 160.00 lol
