    Hi,

Just bought a second hand Thinkpad X30 off eBay (I know!!). It arrived with no floppy drive, no CD drive and no O/s installed. Have tried plugging in external CD drive to boot from Win XP CD, but no luck. Reset BIOS defaults, no luck. My tools are - USB CD drive, USB External HDD, USB flash drive and Win XP CD.

    Any advice welcome....

    Thanks

    Rod

I work on a lot of ThinkPads. I haven't worked on an X yet but R and G models have to be enabled in BIOS for USB Boot. If there isn't an option there, it won't boot USB.

If you need a standard IBM UltraBay CDROM, I could sell one for about $10.00 plus direct shipping costs. That would be a regular UltraBay drive, not the thin one.
