Help with IDT high defenition codec

Hi,

I have a dell dimension 9100 i just did a clean install of windows xp sp2. After finishing installing all of the drivers and finishing windows update i noticed that my sound driver wasn't right so i looked it up and some people said that it could be a sigmatel though when i went to install the driver for sigmatel it told me that it was not the correct driver. So im all out of ideas about what to do. Any help would be greatly helpful. Thanks.

I just looked up the Dimension 9100, and Dell does state that your audio device is a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio.

You might try first installing the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, and then reinstalling the Sigmatel driver, see if helps.

Hi

Do uninstall the Audio driver that you have installed if any.

Then as you have XP Sp2 you wont have the upto date UAA High def audio driver from Microsoft and this is needed for Audio to work properly, so once you have installed the Chipset as mentioned above and rebooted, crucial to reboot as the chipset driver will nto full be installed.

then install the UAA High Def audio drivers from HERE then install your Audio drivers again as mentioned above from Caliban.

Also after doing the above steps do tell us if you have any yellow ! marks by any devices in Device Manager
