Help with IE and Citrix applications

I have a brand new laptop that I bought for the purpose of working at home. My work at home job requires the installation of Citrix applications and some other stuff. However, I keep getting an error message when I go to install the needed applications. Its a run time error that I can't quote verbatim right now as I'm at work and not using the computer in question.

Long story short as possible...my work at home job has a help desk and they remotely accessed my computer to try to help me get set up. The result, after they did whatever it is they did, was that I could no longer access any web content. My computer would connect but all I would see was a blank white page, no content on the page other than the tool bars at the top. The help desk blamed it on my service provider and told me to call them. They proceeded to walk me through a bunch of steps, checking IP address, pinging sites,etc. and everything was fine. Next, since my computer is still under warranty, I called HP. They walked me through stuff and finally said to do a system restore. Which I did. Everything was working again but I still get the same error when I go to install Citrix, etc.

Someone at work told me that new computers come with alot of security stuff. They suggested I remove Norton's Internet Security. I did this but nothing changed.

What else can I do? I'm about to pull my hair out! The last straw was when I tried to connect to the internet again the other night, and once again I got nothing but a blank white page with no content. And this laptop hadn't even been turned on since the system restore.

What is causing blank white pages with no content while showing a good connection? What can I do to be able to install Citrix and such?

I use cable internet btw. And the work at home site where I am trying to download applications is reputable. Info can be found here www.workathomeagent.com. Every download worked fine on my desktop but the desktop is old and struggles with multiple windows being open...something that is required by this job. Thus the new laptop...
