Help with JAVA

Having a problem loading JAVA. Repeated attempts to download, remove download and remove have left me baffled. I went to JAVA website and it was little help. I really don't know what to make of this problem.
I have enclosed a shot of the control panel and how it looks after installation. After install, the control panel screen is wiped out. I am not sure why. My wife plays some games online that are java based and I am unable to run my limwire. Any help you could provide would be helpful.

To clarify. Are you trying to install it? or Remove it? Also, does your wife have any issues with Java? (Is it already on your PC?)

Also, what version of Internet Explorer are you using?

Well is it Java or is it the computer? Maybe something on the computer you can get rid of (malware section), or maybe its just java.

 

I'm having the same issues. I went through the Java site to test my JVM and followed the recommended protocol. The first one says to go to tools--> internet options, then on the advanced tab to find the Java options. The Java options don't even show up there.

I also followed the instructions in the post to make sure there were no Java files left after a reinstall to start from a clean slate. Also used CCleaner to nuke everything (including registry errors). I installed Java (ran as administrator from the desktop) and still no dice. Any suggestions?

I'm using Vista with IE 8.0, and tried to install JRE 6.14. Couldn't find any compatability issues posted on the internet...
