Help with laptop random reboots

I'm hoping someone can help in trying to track down the reason behind a laptop randomly rebooting. The laptop is a HP Pavillion ze5705ea running XP (SP3). About six weeks ago it had a RAM upgrade from 256MB to 1GB (2 x 512MB) using Corsair modules (recommended by the website checker). I forget the exact model number but can get it if required.

The memory upgrade went fine and the laptop ran well and was handed back to the owner. About a week ago I got the laptop back saying it's randomly rebooting.

I have witnessed this - you turn it on and let it boot into XP. Sometimes it can sit there for quite a while other times it may reboot after about 10 minutes.

There are no blue screens and nothing is logged in the Event Log.

The memory has been checked with memtest86 and come back clean. I have also reset the BIOS.

Does anyone have the HP Service Manual for this laptop as I want to take the back off and see if it could be a heat problem. HPs website is less than helpful. I've removed all the screws on the base but it appears something else needs to be done.

Was that information from the Crucial website?
As a test I have put the old 256MB module back into the laptop and so far it is running without problems. I think you might have hit the nail on the head with the RAM.

I'll keep an eye on it and let you know.
