Welcome to the forum Ginger sorry for the late reply:)Quite a few questions and problems I'll start at the beginning:-D

The K60IJ supports a max of 2gb per slot for 4gb in total, the Toshiba also supports 2gb per slot for 4gb in total.

Both laptops use SATA 150 interface which means you can use any 2.5 inch notebook sata drive you find, the largest you can find or afford, the bus is limited to 150mbps though so there's no point getting really high speed SSD.

The problem your describing sounds like the data cable for the screen has come loose but the backlight is still powered,to fix you will need to disassemble the laptop and check both the screen connector and motherboard connector then reassemble, probably take an hour or so.

If the pins are damaged I would say its practically unfixable, you can get a new cable no problem and you can get a new screen but I just be guessing as whether the motherboard can be fixed without seeing the damage, the pins are tiny so I'm 90% sure it can't be fixed unless your extremely good a micro soldering and you would be able to fix one pins you'd have to remove the whole connector and replace.
