splitt3r You are now the victim of a drive by title change

On most drives you just have to set the jumpers correctly, it varies with ifferent brands so go to the manuafacturers website and look it up.

Master and Slave jumpers have zero effect on performance. There really is no reason to change them if they are working.

You'll need your SATA drivers on a floppy disk so that you can load them during Windows install. Then your SATA drive will show up as a drive that you can install on. Once you have them on a floppy disk, you press F6 when you first get into the install and it says at the bottom, "Press F6 to install 3rd party RAID or SCSI drivers" or something like that. Then you point it to your floppy and everything should be good to go.

o damn thats pretty smart yeah i will try that tomorrow

and then after the installation i should just re hook up my IDE slave and get my info off of it right?

It depends on what you are plugging your drive into...

If it plugs directly into your motherboard, the motherboard maker's website will have the drivers. If it plugs into a seperate card, you'll need to go to that card's maker's website to find them.
