Help with Microsoft Office Student Edition Install

My son started college today, and we just realized that we did not install Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 on his new laptop. I have the cd, along with the product key, here at home, and he is 3 hours away. Is there a download he can get somewhere, and use the product key I have (good for up to 3 computers)? I called Microsoft, and they said they would have to mail it to him. I can do that, and get it to him quicker, but I'd like to get it on his computer sooner, if possible. Thanks for any advice.

Take your loving spouse or loved one for a nice 3 hour trip (along with the CD) and spend a day with him. That way you know he has a great program installed from the original CD. Besides that he can show you the campus and his room/mates.
That's what I would do.

I would love to do that, but not possible right now. Husband is out of town for a few days, and I have a 2nd child at home, that has school, basketball, etc. I may just mail it to him, if it can't be downloaded.

Its very possible you could with a Live Skydrive account is to upload it and have him download and burn to CD then install and use your key. It does depend on yours and his internet connection speed to how quick you can uplaod and he download.

Office 2003 Trial I though maybe still listed as a download on MSFTs site but not now as Office 2007 has been available for a few years, only alternative is many Colleges have ties with Microsoft and offer the software is that the computing dept may have Home and Student in their inventory of available software and will allow him to copy or download the media without buying a licence off them, its worth a try.

Microsoft do normally send disks out in the mail very quickly, while I get stuff direct from their staff shop and from the various dev teams out of Redmond, it does get to the UK in about a week, so continental USA I would think it would be with him in days.

If he needs something quicker in the mean time, install the trial of Office 2007 as its good for 60 days from HERE or Open Office that will open MS Office files is free for life HERE these options will ge him by for now, until you send a copy of the CD.
