Help with missing mouse? but it is still working.

I have windows xp home edition retail. I have been having allsorts of problems with my mouse cursor not moving but the mouse working in the background as if it is invisible. I am also having trouble with everything hogging my CPU resources. waol.exe, and others. can anyone help. I have done lots of spyware checks and virus checks but nothing.

 

Open the control panel & click 'Mouse'. See if any setting in there gets it right.

 

waol.exe is the welcome to AOL startup program. I assume you are using AOL.

I had the same problem and found there is a problem with stardocks new game Galactic Civilizations II, some kind of problem with the game.

 

To everyone who has sent in an answer. I have had some trouble with my sound. I never took any notice of before. the mouse programe would just start up without me starting it, and the sound was distorted, so I took the sound drivers off and the mouse as stayed on for a while now? so I might have found the answer. I will try every answer that all persons have submitted after I have tested this. Thank you for your help.

 

sry to last post game problem due to the new nvidia drivers, switched back to 78.01 drivers and had no more disappearing mouse.
