Hello, I am having trouble with my mouse scrolling and I have tried everything I could thing of. I listed this post in software because I think it is a software issue. I thought it might be software because I plugged another mouse into pc and get the same results. I do not have any wheel scrolling in any programs. but if I click down on the wheel it goes into a scroll. and stays scrolling until I click again, then it is back to normal. I have a Logitech 518 optical mouse. just updated software to no help. I am running win 7 64 bit. also any help would be appreciated. or if I missed something you need let me know, thx Sean

    Hi Sean,

Several people on the web have reported the exact same scroll problems you have mentioned. i.e. Their Logitech MX 518 optical mouse was working fine for a while but then suddenly the scroll started to behave weirdly. Like having it's own life it started to move up and down quickly making any computer activity impossible. The problem may have been related to your recent "updating" of the software that goes with this optical mouse. In any case you might want to try this:

From the Logitech Forums, and other sites I found this (possible) solution:
1). Uninstall the current SetPoint software (especially if it is currently at v 6.52)
2). Download and install Older Version of SetPoint 6.32 (x64) (which is available here).
3). In SetPoint, make sure "smooth scrolling" is turned off. * Problem solved. *

Important Note: Needless to say you may have to use a 'separate' spare mouse when and after you uninstall the SetPoint software in step one.

Side Notes: Just in case that tip does not work for you... The site (for support) for the Logitech MX™518 Optical Gaming Mouse is located here. The two areas I would concentrate on would be:

    Reference
    * Windows 8 product support and device compatibility (the info also goes for Win 7, as well)
    * Cleaning Logitech keyboards and mice

    Good Luck! -- COMP

Hi, just tried as suggested Comp, but no good, still same. I will start sniffing around forums. I do think it is from a update Win 7 probably. I have it set to auto. I did try system restore also, but no luck there either, thanks for the help if u find out more let me know, Sean
