Is it a USB flash ROM device?
Have you tried uninstalling it in Windows system device manager, restarting the computer and plugging it into a different USB socket? And try to plug it directly into the computer rather than into a hub of some sorts.

    It might not support 98.

When it's hooked up to XP, is it identified? If so, post back with the details.

Are there any numbers or info on it that you can Google?

Failing all that, you can try posting a pic and some may recognise it.

I never said there was, I asked specific questions that require specific answers.

    Post a photo of it.

It might be that it uses a particular USB interface chipset which you can get a generic driver for - but unless either a) you fancy disassembling it or b) we can work out what it is - you can't know where to get that.

It's worth making sure that you have all the updates for Win 98 that there is. Some of them may include generic mass storage drivers that might work.
