Long story short, a while back i tried to make a recovery disc for my computer... Not being tech savvy i accidentally deleted the recovery partition so i got onto my computer manufacturer (NEC) and asked them for the recovery disks what followed was a week and a half of arguing whether or not i was going to pay $40USD for a courier so eventually they caved in and i got the discs.

I got the discs and because my computer needed some parts replaced under warranty (power supply blew and took the motherboard with it) the discs will not recognise the computer as being an NEC machine anymore and will not reinstall the OS, utilities or the partition so if something happens down the road i'll have an expensive brick. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to bypass NEC's stupid locking out thing?

I am not sure if this will help but I have copied the Recovery disc for toshiba and that removed their rights management, but I don't know if that will work for your disc.

If everything is up and running and you just want to make a backup for down the road then it might be best to use something like Todo Backup.

How did you test their discs to know they wouldn't work? If you used an extra HDD to test then you could use the same HDD to store and test a clone of your current HDD.
