    I just bought a Chaintech Volari V3 video card, which is supposed to be AGP 8x!!

    And, my mobo (Abit KV7-V) which also does 8x agp.

    I've put in all the latest and necessary agp drivers for the mobo, and the drivers for the card itself...but when I goto display settings and look in the "info" tab...it says...current agp speed is 4x!! I also checked the bios...and it also says the agp slot is set at 8x!!

    The reason I bring this up...after installing the new graphics card...I was hanging around theses parts of the web...and when I was scrolling up and down, and bouncing from one page to another...it is much slower than my older card which was just 64mb, and just 2x!!

    Sorry to take so long to get back...haven't been home!!

    Here is what I got...

    See what you can make out of it!! I'm not too buff on graphic details yet, other than the basics!!

    Just so you know though...I bought it because my other got damaged and it was a cheap emergency replacement off the shelf, at my local comp store!!

    i doubt it even uses the bandwidth of 2x agp, much less 4x/8x.

    So is that uncommon that a well known company would fib about the capabilities of their product, in this kind of case?? If so...I will take the piece of s**t back and raise hell, just for the sake of feeling better!!!!

    I figured since it was chaintech...atleast I would have that going for me!!!!

    And better yet...I just went to the website to try and download the latest driver version, and guess what...the stupid "USA" link for the download doesn't even work...but the ofcourse the "Taiwan" link works just fine!!!!

    Oh well...if anybody has anymore input...I'm still all ears!!

    Thanks for the help!!

    ATI and Nvidia aren't the only ones on the block that make video card chips. The XGI Volari series is a weak card compared to the two kings. But, much cheaper.

    @Rogvalcox: I'd take it back.....

    Unless you just like casual office products, email, and internet. Though, you MAY be okay to download the drivers from Taiwan. I have updated bios drivers from Taiwan sites, due to the US of A ones are typically dead.
