I recently followed the guidelines on removing malware on my computer. I followed them to the tee! It worked! Thank you majorgeeks!!! anyway.....

I had openoffice on my acer aspire r1600 desktop. When the whole malware issue came up and I realized I had it, it was during an updated version of openoffice 3.0 to 3.3... anyway... thought that was it and tried to uninstall the whole program. I did a search and anything that said openoffice, well, i deleted.... not a good idea... should of checked here first... long story short, realized son download the "2011 antivirus malware" followed what majorgeeks malware removal instructions were and got my computer back into shape... :)

well. Now am trying to get back to life and knew I re download openoffice again because of all my docs and such for small business.

went to site. clicked on download openoffice 3.3, opened it and right at installation it froze... let it keep thinking.... and i have gotten 2 errors:

    1. w2indows delayed write failed; c:programfile/openoffice.org3/basis//share/template/en-us/wizard/bitmap/input_1.bmp data lost

    2. Error 1304 Error writing to file c:programfile/openoffice.org3/share/template/en-us/wizard/report/stl-08.ott

I have updated my my NET framework and i have renamed my b.Rename Openoffice.org to another name such as Openoffice.org.backup

    and still... keeps freezing, etc.

Please if someone could give me some advice so I could go back to work :)

    thank you

Unfortunately, errors of the "delayed write failed" type generally mean either the hard drive is failing, or you have some serious file system problems. So, assuming you're running Windows XP, click "Start", click "Run" type cmd and press Enter. You should now see an open Command Prompt window with a black background and white lettering. Type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter. You might get a message about "forcing a dismount", if you do, answer "no"; you will get a message about being unable to perform "chkdsk" now, and do you want to run it at the next restart; answer "yes". Type exit and restart the PC as you normally would (click Start > Shut Down > Restart). Upon rebooting, you will prompted at some point if you want to cancel disk checking, do NOT press anything!!! Let the check run (it can take HOURS to complete, so be patient). If the "delayed write failed" errors persist, check your hard drive maker's web site and download their free diagnostic tool; run the extended/advanced tests and make sure your hard drive is not failing. If you still have problems after running both these things, please post and we'll try to help.

(if you're NOT running Windows XP, please post the version of Windows you have along with service pack, and the make of your hard drive, and anything else that may seem relevant ;) )

(the "chkdsk" command I posted above has a space before and after the "c:" - if those spaces aren't there, the command will error out and not run - these spaces can be hard to see in mid-paragraph on a forum, so I thought I'd make sure you got it right :) )
