Hi BT and Rusty.... Look at me.....FROZEN TEARS::cry Nope, nothing is moving, and not even the dials on the home page... Now, they were working Tuesday, and then, just stopped. I sure do hope it is from the crash they had, because other sites work fine... At least NOW I don't feel so bad, and know it isn't me... I can't defrag or perform any more maintenance, because I have done it so much lately, and scanned, etc... Nothing... still, I have hard frozen non-moving :cry

I do feel better now tho!:-D knowing I am not alone! I sure hope it gets fixed soon. I can't tell where the new posts are when the dials aren't moving... :(

I suggest you run CCleaner....and restart your browser.

Re: OK Who's playing with the lines???

Just happens with Opera. With IE they work fine... Everything works fine. What do you suggest I do with CCleaner, TimW? I haven't used it a lot.. No, they aren't working here, but I do get other sites to work..rolleyes Really odd to me... Thanks guys ;) (that one doesn't move anyway!)

PS: I have restarted, and rebooted, done maintenance, so now I am at a loss.

Sounds like some sort of conflict between Opera and MG. But don't quote me.rolleyes

Re: OK Who's playing with the lines???

I just closed Opera, ran CCleaner for Opera and cleaned the cookies, and files, and all the gunk, and still not working in Opera. IE is great tho. Yes, I think you are right, BT, sounds like a conflict for sure. I'll be right back;)

Re: OK Who's playing with the lines???

Now, I am on IE7. ALL the smilies are working just fine.. :clap:hyper Claping hands, to jumping jacks... I enjoy how fast Opera is, but I do like to know how to get them to work in it all the time, not just sometimes... I'll poke around some more later, and see if I can figure it out.

@Laura, if both browsers had the same result, I would have to say it is the computer, but in IE, they are all working. Even the dials on the home page... Yeah, this is a mind-boggler, isn't it? Thank you anyway!!:p

Yep. Sounds like it's Opera. I don't use it so can't even check.

Re: OK Who's playing with the lines???

Yup, I have also come to that conclusion!!:-D Oh, don't worry, I don't give up easily, and will eventually figure it out, as it must be something extremely simple, and I am just trying too hard, or looking too hard, and eventually, if I leave it alone, and then come back to it, I will find the right setting...

The really weird thing is, other sites work fine... Even the moving gifs...
So, I will have to tweak it...Tweak it...Tweak it till it MHZ:-D roflmaoroflmao

Well everything works fine in the Opera I'm using, so I would say check your Opera settings, (in tools=>Options)

Hi Phantom, are you going to be around for a while? I am now here on IE, but I can switch real quick... Do you have time ? We can compare settings;)
Let me know, and I'll close out IE and open Opera.. Thanks!

Well, it's gone four a.m. here, so I have to retire for the night, (morning), but here are my settings. I better not get too 'techy', this being the Lounge and all.;)

Have a look at 'Enable Animated Images' pref.

Re: OK Who's playing with the lines???

Thanks, Phantom, I have the same exact settings checked, and I am on Opera now.. You can go ahead and edit that if you want to now.. I will do some more snooping later on... We have the same settings, but my guys aren't moving.

I have Opera 10.0.(stable) What version do you have?

Yes, enabled animated images is also checked... all the same...

Looks like I have V9.64. I assume that you already looked at the advanced settings. Guess it's Software Forum time for you.

Have you look at the advance settings like phantom said? Maybe there is a setting in there that needs to be changed.I couldn't tell you as I have FF. Maybe Hrlow can help?
Edit: I never did get to the garage today. 1rst thing tomorrow morn.

  15. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Yup, the settings are the same. I checked that first off... Nothing has changed, from last week to this week, and everything is still checked . Other sites work fine tho. That is what is so weird...

TeeCee, have you checked Opera's site preferences for Major Geeks?

Am currently using Opera (v 9.63) with no problems.

    to 'trucks
TeeCee and I have tried everything I could think of. Problem seems to come and go.

Hi Plastidust, yes I have. Here they are:
    Encoding: Automatic
    Cookies : Accept
    Content: everything is checked
Display: enable frames - enable in-line frames-enable styling of forms- enable styling of scrollbars
Scripting: enable Java script - Allow moving and resizing of windows
Allow changing of status field - allow script to hide address bar
    Use JavaScript files:C:\Program Files\Java
Network: encode web address with UTF8
    send referrer information
    enable auto redirection
    Browser Identification: Identify as Opera

NOW, I am baffled,:confused because the smilies are working. I made NO CHANGES..... You tell me? :-D this is the second time this has happened...
The first time, was with 9.64 , so that is why I went to 10.0 NOT a beta, but the stable version..... Holy wah, :p Hey, I am just as miffed as the rest of you on this one...

Plastidust, is there some specific "site preference" I should have checked? They are working now, and this is the first time since Tuesday!:-D

  19. bigtrucks

Maybe there was a glitch when you went to 10.0 version and it just now worked itself out. Maybe?!:confusedrolleyes

Well... under content, I have Enable Java unchecked. That's the default and I just never enabled it. But I've had no problems.

Hi BT, it could be anything, for sure. When I downloaded 10.0, it worked like a charm. I didn't change a thing... they just flat stopped one day, and nothing I did made any difference..... The crying one is still froze, and the waving hand is not moving, but all the rest are.. rolleyes Yup, those eyes are rolling; :-D laughing up a storm;:yum eating;:drool drooling;:zzz sleepy; :majormajor;:p tongue :hyper Jumping jacks;:clap clapping...... And so on... I have NO IDEA.....

What do you think, hrlow? I have had this browser for some time now... Totally weird..... BUT, it is fast!:-D

  24. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Yes, hrlow, it does show "forums.majorgeeks.com" rolleyes

Java is checked in mine also... That is all the default settings. I didn't change any of them. That is what makes me wonder what is happening... No problem with IE tho...

Plastidust, if you have enable Java unchecked, how does any site that has moving animation, move?

Is Turbo set to off, on or on automatic? When I have Turbo set on or on automatic I sometimes have problems. So I have that set to off.

    ???
In post 12 you said you had version 10.0 (stable)?
From the Opera home page, I downloaded 10.0 but when installing, showed as Beta.

  27. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Why, Plastidust, I think you hit something there! Turbo was set on Auto. I unchecked that, so now will close the browser, and re-open it, and see if that guy is crying yet....;)

  28. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Hrlow, the 10.0 stable version came out Sept. 1. When I go to help, about Opera, here is what it shows me:
    • Version 10.00
    • Build 1750
    • Platform Win32
    • System Windows XP
    • Java Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.6

Well, I am not out of the woods just yet, this guy :cry and this guy :wave are still froze, and so is the dials on the homepage... Hmmm.. At least we are on the right track, anyway. I am going to close this, and open IE.. Maybe, it is reading off the hard drive? I noticed the smilies I used with IE are working, so let me try that for a moment...... I'll be right back......;)

Plastidust, do you have 10.0 installed? :confused This is keeping me up at night! :cry :banghead
This is the 10.0 Final version, yes.. If you have that one, you have the same as I do. :wave I am just checking, these guys, as I am in IE now.... :major
Also, you can get the stable version from the Opera download site too... :major

  32. bigtrucks

@ Hrlow2 and TeeCee Did you guys install from Opera or from MG's like plastidust. That might be why you are having problems, and not all pc's work the same with the same programs as what some one else has installed. Just a thought!

  33. hrlow2

    hrlow2 MajorGeek

Installed and tried v 10.0 (Beta AND Final versions).
Uninstalled both. Seemed to lag real bad on my machine while playing in the Casino.
Pages load slower than my 9.63 model.Am back with that now.
    Beta from Opera home page.
    Final from here.

  34. plastidust

Yes, I've 10.0 installed. The link I posted is the file I d/l and installed. To answer your previous question, I don't know how the animation is working, but it does. It may keep me up all night too. I hate little glitches like this.

Hi BT, I downloaded mine from Opera site.. I still have it in my FDM. rolleyes
I am going to change back to Opera now, and see if that made any difference..... Just trial and error at this point.... LOL. Be back shorly, so keep those thinking caps on, OK? :celebrate

I'm beginning to think Bigtrucks is right about the Halloween tricks.

  37. bigtrucks

    bigtrucks MajorGeek

    :confused huh!
It's good to try and find the source of the problem even though it's just a few that aren't working they should all work. and if you just left it like that it very well could be a little more complicated down the road. Computers are sort of like women complicated and confusing at times, And only I can say that because I'm a woman! and because I can.:p

  38. bigtrucks

    bigtrucks MajorGeek

You noticed the lines or no lines, which ever, too?

  39. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Well, that didn't help any... I see the laughing one, the tongue, rolling eyes, sleepy :drool , :yum, and :major , :celebrate:guns:foolish:heli:tas:fart:dood:kissmy:liar:duck:banghead roflmao , :banghead are moving, but not the rest, and no dials on the homepage...

Well, I guess we are on the right track anyway, at least some are moving.... It sure is weird tho.......rolleyes

  40. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Me too, because other sites that use Java and animation work fine... hrlow2 said he seen the line thing this morning, as I did too.... So, we all can't be rolleyes

  41. plastidust

    plastidust Command Sergeant Major

That's what has me confused, that some are animated and some are not, for you. They're all working here.

BigTrucks, no not at the time of your post but, earlier when I first installed Opera 10.0 and tried the Turbo mode it seemed to work at first and then, no lines and some animation was messed up and only here at MajorGeeks.

  42. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

So, I am not the only one... That is good to hear, Plastidust, maybe it is a glitch in the system? Also, I am on a Dial-up -network, not hi-speed. Might make a difference there too... But, when you said,
I am seeing the same thing.... Maybe we should sleep on it, eh? :zzz:major

  43. bigtrucks

    bigtrucks MajorGeek

Come to think of it, when I roll my cursor over the tool bar in the reply thread when replying, the whole bar jumps as if it was animated. Would someone else try it to see if it's me or this place please?

  44. plastidust

    plastidust Command Sergeant Major

Probably should. I just figured that I had some thing set wrong at my end when it messed up with the Turbo mode on. To be fair I don't visit that many other sites so, if I had tried many others I may well have found some others that messed up. This machine is on DUN as well, a 52K connection(new phone lines).

  45. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

I see the same thing, BT. No, it isn't you...I thought that might have something to do with my situation, but not if it is happening to you too....:confused Must be a bug or glitch here somewhere, first me, then plastidust, now the jumping bar.. I think Halloween is a ways away, don't you? :confused

  46. plastidust

    plastidust Command Sergeant Major

Doesn't jump here. Each icon just highlights as the cursor passes over.

  47. plastidust

    plastidust Command Sergeant Major

What about Opera skins or themes? Are you using any?

  48. bigtrucks

    bigtrucks MajorGeek

Hey TC didn't you tell me you were on DUN ?

  49. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Same here, I have a 56K Modem, and all new burried phone lines... Turbo slowed my page loading, but I never thought to disable it, just left it at "auto".. Now, it is disabled...

Skins. Yes, I am using "Enable special effects: sand" which is the color of my browser... The other thing, is on the Speed dial: I have a picture on the background.... Do you think any of this is related? rolleyes

  50. TeeCee

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Yup. Same as Plastidust... 56K modem, and new buried lines.. DUN is a Dial-Up-Network... So is plastidust... ;)
