Help with Perl

All-

I am a newbie at this. I have downloaded and installed Perl. Now what? I am trying to wirte script to perform certain internet functions, and I know I can do it, I just don't know WHERE to write the script. Is there a compiler? Do I write the script in wordpad or something? Where do I do the actual programming?

Boy do I feel dumb.

You can write in everywhere, you can use even notepad and run it with the perl compiler!

 

Did you get any documentation with the Perl Compiler that showed you how to write a simple hello world program and run it???
You didn't specify platform/Perl compiler downloaded so I don't know what else to suggest...
