Help With Plastic Tabs Inside Case

    Simple silly question.

I have to replace a power supply on a Dell 9150.

The wires are kept together with these white plastic tabs mounted in the case. How do I open these tabs? They're kind of square. I know there must be a trick to releasing them, and I don't want to break them.

    Help please?

No, they're not ties. They are sort of square, they're white, they're actually part of the case. They must have some way of release, it's easy to figure out the releases of the ties of the ribbon cables, but the ones for the power supply wires aren't so easy to figure out.

They're used to run the wires under the components in the case and all the way to the SATA hard drive.

I'd have to see them to advise you further.
If you have a digital camera, upload a picture of them.

I hope you'll be around later. I don't have my digital camera right now. But in the link that you provided, step 5 in replacing the PSU shows that you press the clip to close them. I just need to know how to open them. I know it must be simple, but...

I've had a look in an old Dell desktop tower I've got and it doesn't have white plastic clips, they're green, and there are 2 different types. One kind aren't attached to anything, they look as if they fit round ribbon cables (I'm only guessing here), and the other type clip onto metal parts of the case (on mine they're attached to the drive bays. These can be removed by pinching together the bits where they go through small holes into the metal. A pair of tweezers or small pliers might work, or maybe finger nails if they're stong enough.

    Thank you
I just got back from the commencement ceremonies.
Although she is not truly my daughter (stepdaughter to be more accurate), I am very proud of her.

I can't be certain from your photo about the clips, but it looks as though Tarquin BA is correct. Try squeezing them with needlenose pliers or tweezers.

I carefully used a precision screwdriver and popped them open. Worked fine. They sure are a lot easier to close.

Thanks for both of your help!

BTW, Congrats are still in order. You should be proud as you are.
