so it will work with the max 1gb ram in each slot? which would be 4gbmax since theres 4 slots..am i correct? or can it go higher to like 2gb a slot? just curious.

Stick to the specs. The manufacturers know what they have.
Also may not recognize any above 4GB total, so most would be wasted if you filled all 4 slots with 2GB each.

    You're welcome.
4GB is plenty enough for most casual users anyway.
I have 3GB in my machine and seldom see 1/2 of it used.
Nice to have it in case, though.

Are you in the process of building?

yeah i am. it was given to me as a shell with the motherboard. i have added 2 hdd's, 2 DVD DL burners a wireless g card and am looking into a nice graphics/video card. i have some here that would be fine to get it by till i can buy a new one. but only problem is getting it to power on. all the cords to the power buttons and everything were not connected and i cant figure out how they go in. this is the first one i have ever built.

Neither have I. I purchase mine pre-assembled then modify as needed.
Guess you will need to hope that someone with more experience comes along.
Might be able to figure some of the connections out yourself though.
The biggest one or maybe a second smaller one from the power supply should be easy to locate.
The one from your cooling fan usually goes to one close by. Most motherboards have the purpose printed on them too.
Get what you can get figured out, and narrow down the other possibilities.

    Hi Vail,

Most Motherboards have the pins labeled and the case leads are also labeled. Usually the only problem is that the two sometimes use different labels. Most MBs also come with a book with the info. If no book then if a CD came with it will probably be on there in a PDF file. All else failing try the maker of the board on the Net they will have specs and pictures of the board.

    Good Luck, Jim
