Are you sure the Windows is 64bit? What you're describing is usually associated with 32bit operating systems due to a limitation of the 32bit architecture. You might also consider resetting the BIOS using the on-board jumper (be sure to unplug the power cord first!), then go in and set the date and time and boot order (if needed). Try to only make a minimum number of changes to the default settings, and see if this makes a difference. Some BIOS's have a weird "memory remap" option that artificially forces the RAM to read below what it should be, and resetting back to defaults should help if this is the scenario. You might also try one memory stick, power up, boot to Windows, power down, add the 2nd stick, and power up again. Also, according to the Asus site, the motherboard only supports 1066 memory with an overclock, so if you haven't gone into the BIOS and manually set your RAM clocks, there's a good chance that this is reason for the inaccurate RAM readings. More info about setting your RAM clocks should be in the motherboard manual (download here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5KPL-C_1600/P5KPL-C-1600_manual_E3695.zip). I also found a BIOS update (v 0316 dated 2008.05.04) that mentions CPU compatibility with certain memory modules, so you may want to research that a bit more, but I really think the problem lies in being required to overclock the system in order to get the true 1066 speed from your memory.
    Good luck!
