help with restoring how files open

i accidentaly changed the way a file type opens in xp and now i cant figure out how to get it back to the default. it is an application extension file (.dll) and now if i right click on it, it says this file opens with notepad, instead of the unknown application.

 

open your control panel then open folder options (follow steps below)

Click tab for File Types
Look in list for .dll
If you dont see it in the list click the "new button:
type in .dll and click OK it will be first in the list.
when you find it click the restore button and then click apply
now close and it should be better

 

thanks, i almost did that , but then it gave me some warning about how the file type was accociated to a program and if i wanted to change that fact or something like that...i wussed out and hit cancel.
