help with running executable files in knoppix?

does anyone know how to run .exe files in knoppix? when i click on it, the "open with" screen pops up. also, is it possible to run windows xp's system restore from knoppix? thanx for the help

 

Knoppix is a linux based OS. It's not windows. In other words exe files arn't executable at all. That's like trying to run gameboy games on a windows PC. You can do it but you need an emulator.

If you really want Koppix comes with Wine and it's a windows emulator for linux. Don't expect it to run anything complex but if it's a simple program then Wine should be able to make it work.

As for running Windows XP system restore from Knoppix the answer is no, you can't do it. On the bright side though, that's not a problem. If you just stick the windows XP disc into the drive when you boot you can use it to load the system restore utility.
