So my Computer has now melted 2 of the PCB's on my HDD's back to back. I'm not sure exactly what to make of this, I am assuming it is an issue with the Power Supply.

I just want a confirmation that there is no way it could be the SATA Controller. I know there is a risk of the SATA Controller being damaged from that, but could a damaged SATA Controller *CAUSE* this?

Troubleshooting included 3 different HDD's 2 sets of SATA data/power cables.

I think it might be worth mentioning also that even before things fried, the MOBO did not recognize the device.

I guess the main question here is, do I need to replace the PS, the MOBO or both?

Melted? The amount of current it would take to get something so hot it would melt a circuit board, solder or components on the board would be HUGE. Why more than any being distributed through data circuits. And any properly functioning power supply should automatically shut down if those levels of current were encountered.

Maybe both, by now. For sure, I would have that PSU professionally tested. Normally I would suggesting simply swapping in a known good PSU to see what happens, but at this point, I would be worried your current PSU damaged that motherboard, and connecting another PSU to it may cause further collateral damage.

You should be able to connect a good PSU to the motherboard and with NO drives connected, boot into the BIOS Setup Menu.

Yeah so I posted the original, and am posting this reply now on the PC I am talking about, I guess I should have stated that it was meant to be a data drive, and that my M.2 NVME SSD main drive works without fault.

Okay, but nothing in your reply changes anything in mine.
