I downloaded a new (to me) program called Ufasoft SocksChain v 3.8.137. It claims to be able to chain HTTP proxies. It also says it uses Socks proxies but I want to use HTTP as they are easier to find.
The problem is, there is no user guide on how to setup the options & how to run it. It says in the Help\FAQs section it says to set my browser's (which is Firfox) Sock's host to 127.0.0.1:1081 (which I did). I loaded my proxy list (which I know work because I tested using Proxyrama) & ran "test all". None of the proxies worked & I dont know why.
Does anyone have any helpfull information on how to use this program ? I really need a step-by-step guide on how to setup & use this.

    Comp Info:
    Win98SE
    256MB RAM
    550MHz PIII
    Firefox v1.0.7

    Thanx,

    Hmm… Interesting

According to the UltraSoft website the latest version is listed as: SocksChain v3.11.151

I was going to suggest that you try the UltraSoft Forum - In particular, the SocksChain Forum; however the pickin’s are sure thin as there are only a measly 8 replies to questions. Have you tried contacting their "support" e-mail address which is listed as: support@ufasoft.com? Additionally, for a 'so-called' anonymous program the folks over at UltraSoft sure require a LOT of personal information in order to register/order the program from them. See for yourself: HERE

There are a few websites [such as Okosoft.com] "claim" to offer earlier versions; such as SocksChain v3.8.139 for around $50 dollars and they will allow a download of the program's installation file - however the Buy Now links are all dead and simply refer you to the Ultrasoft SocksChain Homepage. Several websites, such SoftPedia.com list this program's latest updated version [3.11.151] as "Buy now for $119.00"

Seems like a lot of money for a utility that has no help file and such sparse online help available.

If all you are looking for is some level of anonymity while using the web there is a freeware/donationware utility/program out there which is called TOR. This program routes the traffic through multiple servers so it's very hard to know where the traffic actually originated. You can also try JAP Anonymous Proxy. Both of these are free and have extensive HELP, FAQ’s as well as offering some level of support for their products via forums etc.

    Good Luck!
