    Hi everybody.......
I have a problem pertaining to Windows ME.
I am running an IBM Aptiva Pentium II, 500mhz, 6gb HDD, 180 RAM...........I also run Ad-Aware and Sybot, and have Norton anti-virus, and run scandisk and defrag at least once every 6-8 weeks. I have visited Major Geeks for downloads several times, but this is my first visit to the forums, obviously.
Yesterday I was burning a CD (using WinonCD 3.6) - I left the house for an hour or so and let the program run it's course..........
When I returned home, the CD had finished burning, but the computer was apparently trying to defrag itself - I disengaged the program, and subsequently the computer had what can only be described as a major dummy spit! The screen went blank, and nothing would bring it back.

I re-booted the computer, but it will only load (in safe mode) to the screen before the actual desktop screen........it says that there has been a registry error, and to run scanreg, and also that it has detected new hardware (which it does not have).......additionally, my wireless mouse has stopped working entirely.
As my desktop will not load, I cannot run scanreg, or even do a system restore.........can anyone advise me on a possible course of action?

This computer has been very well behaved over the last two years or so, it has not given me much grief at all.

Also I mentioned it's trying to install new hardware, which it doesn't hawve. A message box comes up with this message: Title Bar "Enum\HTREE\ROOT\0" message reads "SUReg Create key failed". If you click on OK it just freezes from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    And if that doesnt work,
I would get yourself a boot disk and use Scanreg /restore from there
    http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
Download the disk and load it onto a floppy, reset your bios to boot from the floppy drive first, once its loaded change to the WINDOWS directory and run Scanreg /restore
