Hello. I have an issue that I am trying to resolve and not sure if I can do it or how to do it. (and I admit, it was dumb on my part to do it this way)

I did a fresh install of Windows XPw/SP3 using a disc from a new computer that was received about a month ago. (it was a Dell computer). The install went through fine but now I am unable to activate the software. I know that the Dell computer probably activated the copy which would make this copy not activate on another computer. I have another valid serial number that I can put in but I am unable to change the license on the computer. I have tried using program by Jellybean (or something like that) but it will not run the script to change the key. I also have tried changing it by going through the activation and typing in a new key but I get an error that says the key is invalid. I have used the key before on quite a few machines.

I am hoping I do not have to re-install Windows (with a different installation CD). Can anyone offer any suggestions of how I can change the key on this machine so I can activate it?

Uh here's something you can try. Call Microsft and explain the situation to them and they may be able to help.
